Only one ep of Season 2 of Torchwood left to watch…

Just got done streaming the second to last episode of Season 2 of Torchwood, “Fragments”.

Some great one liners in that one, as we discover how each current member of the group joined up. Whereas all the other member flashbacks started with title screens that said “5 years earlier” or “21 months earlier”, “1,392 deaths earlier” was the title screen for Jack’s flashback. Loved that.

“I don’t exist. And for a man of my charisma, that’s quite an achievement.”

And forget “hello”, Ianto had Jack at “pterodactyl”. 😀

Although still don’t quite understand how the whole building went “kablooie”, in some cases with the explosives looking them right in the face, and they weren’t all blown into itty bitty (to borrow a term from a Moonlighting episode) “bits o’ guy” . But that’s Torchwood for you…

But I’m sensing the demise of one or two major characters in upcoming episodes (either the next ep, or in “Children of Torchwood”), so am kind of dragging my feet to finish up the show… Hate when main characters on favorite shows get knocked off. While Stargate SG-1 was on, the episode when they killed off Daniel Jackson had me going through some serious Kleenex that night. I’m such a wimp, lol.

Season 2 of Torchwood finished!

“The end is where we start from…” – Captain Jack Harkness

Waaaah. “Exit Wounds” ended pretty much how I thought it would. Not QUITE as sad as Daniel’s demise on SG-1, but then, by then I’d been watching that show for a good 5 seasons, vs just the two seasons for Torchwood. Not quite as much time to get attached yet (and well, Owen had been a wee bit of a butthead – whether he was dead or undead – for many of the shows 😉 ). Still, between the demise of two main characters, and Jack’s “reunion “with his missing brother, twas a pretty emotional way to end the season.

‘Course, with my warped brain, for some reason, the phrase that kept coming to mind after watching it was “come no further, for death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.” LOL. Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog? Or Weevil of Cardiff? In any case – Run away! Run Away!

Got several screencaps from the episode here. (Mostly just to see if I could actually get a shadowbox gallery to work on the blog. Yes, she apparently can be taught! 😀 )

Already have “Torchwood – Children of Earth” cued up and ready to watch via the Roku box next chance we get. Although given the grumblings that I’ve been hearing about what happens to ANOTHER major character during THAT series, I’m kind of dreading that one now too. Oh well.

Still thinking about getting the three series dvd set. Would love to watch a lot of the shows again, there’s some really great one liners throughout (even in this last one, as sad as it was, they managed to throw in several good lines), and it’s just a great sci-fi show all together. Not in a huge rush though, as long as I can stream them via netflix, I can hold off buying them.

Great show, even if it did get a little dark during the second season.

@Team_Barrowman – My JB webpages are done. Whew!

…At least until the new John Barrowman CD finally gets here this week and I can include my thoughts on that. Or until I find some other miscellaneous bits o’ randomness to include on the third page. But after giving up 10 bucks to plug in the Virgin Mobile 3G net connection (we don’t have wireless at the office), 5 lunch hours last week, several late nights, and a good part of this afternoon (a lot of all that time was learning curve, still getting the hang of this whole Jooma design thang. Trying to figure out how to beat java script, php files, and html header code into submission & getting the video player to cooperate and actually play back JB’s “Night and Day” video the way I wanted it to nearly had me slamming my head onto the desk this afternoon), I think it’s safe to say:

“Put a fork in it, it’s DONE!” 😀

The main John Barrowman category page is here. There are intros to all three pages there, or any of the three are accessible from the left menu.

Gee, now that it’s done, NOW what do I do?!? LOL

My JB @Team_Barrowman webpage online…

… well, most of it. Lunch hours really need to be longer than an hour! Will finish it up later, but decided to go ahead and publish what I had so far. Unless I botch up the cut and paste, here be the link:) More later…

Movies watched this week

Watched the DVD “The Invention of Lying” with Ricky Gervais on Friday, and after sending that back to Netflix Saturday morning, made use of the Roku box and streamed a film called “Following” by the same director who did “Memento”. Which I liked, so I gave “Following” a go Saturday night, after streaming two episodes of the BBC series “Torchwood” (ending up on the episode with Gwen’s wedding from Season 2. What an EP! 😀 ).

Then Sunday evening, streamed another Netflix recommendation called “The Canyon”, with the actress who plays Sara on the TV show “Chuck”. That was probably the best of the three movies we watched this weekend. Had a few “don’t do THAT!” moments, but on the whole, a pretty good movie.

Still tinkering with my @Team_Barrowman webpage…

… THIS is why I brought my laptop to work to work on the website at lunchtime. I figured I’d get a late start on the computer tonight with the return of good TV to primetime, now that the Olympics are over, watching Chuck, Life Unexpected and recording the Big Bang Theory. And this was after watching two more hours of Torchwood. Is it just me, or did season two take a really REALLY dark turn compared to season one?

Didn’t sit down here until after 10pm. Then found a zillion messages in my email from the new newsgroup I signed up for yesterday, so had to sort through those (and change the format to daily digest, there were so many individual messages, I couldn’t find my SPAM! lol).

So now, by the time I sorted through all my usual after work online stuff, it’s already almost midnight, and I don’t have a braincell left in my head to continue working on my JB webpage. Figured I’d still be tinkering tomorrow anyway, so left the laptop at the office. I’ll fiddle with it more at lunch tomorrow…

Future reminder to self: When bringing purse, bookbag, and laptop to work, do NOT put all three in the passenger seat. The overly cautious Prius thought someone was sitting there without a seatbelt on, and 5 minutes into my drive to work started to *ping* at me to tell me someone wasn’t belted in yet. Doh! Love the way it starts to get frantic after the initial slow *ping….ping….ping…* After a few of those, suddenly it switches over to *PINGPINGPINGPINGPING!* just in case I couldn’t hear it the first 10 times it pinged at me. And then it stops suddenly, like it thinks “Oh well, it’s YOUR life! Don’t buckle up if you want to!” LOL. It’s like the backup alarm that goes off when you put the thing in reverse. Does anyone hear it OUTSIDE the car? Nope! Just the driver, in case they’ve not actually figured out that the car is going backwards yet. I say again: DOH! 😀

But at least both my gas and brake pedals work. Apparently 2007 was a decent year for Priuses. Unless you count headlights going out unexpectedly. Hasn’t happened to me yet, but there have been some complaints from drivers of 2007 Priuses. :-O

Website changes: Site SEO and John Barrowman

Alas, doing website stuff can’t be ALL be fun and Barrowman, LOL.

Finally broke down and did boring geeky admin maintenance stuff tonight, namely switching on the SEO (“search engine optimization”, *yawn* yeah, told you it was boring) features of the site, and then once it, as expected, broke my site theme (the main reason I hadn’t done the SEO before now, last time I did it, it completely killed my style sheets, and left the site ugly and themeless), went into one of the scary looking PHP configuration files (man, I hate digging around code like that, you can break sites that way. I know, I’ve done it), added one simple line, crossed my fingers and reloaded the site. Yay! It worked! I didn’t break it!

And now instead of having those big long Joomla style URLs from hell, I’ve actually got URLs that make sense and TELL you what the page is by name instead of listing them by section, category, and article ID number. And even better, when I go check out who is coming to the site, and what pages are being visited, I’ll be able to tell, in plain English, which pages those are, instead of trying to translate those lengthy URLs.

Once I got that done, then it was time for a little more fun and Barrowman. Turned the Favorite Video Page to a Multimedia page, and went ahead and moved all the radio interviews that I’d saved from late February and early March and posted under the “Various and Sundries” page over to the Multimedia page, then added on three new radio shows, including one that just aired in the UK yesterday. Sometimes being a smart nerdy fangirl has its advantages. 😉

(Yes, I know that’s Dr. Who, not Captain Jack, but you get the idea. 😉 I’ve always just thought that pic was hilarious. And one of these days, I’m sure I’ll sit down and watch my first episode of Dr. Who. Eventually.)
